It is often said that when you empower a woman, you empower a community. But looking back at the last year, we’ve learned that when you empower 134 women, you start a movement.
We recently celebrated a significant milestone in our journey: reaching a total of 134 vibrant, ambitious young women who have walked through our doors since we launched the Kerjayaku: Goal Accelerator programme in October 2024.
Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or are just hearing about us now, this is a moment for us to reflect on the progress made and the lives changed so far.
Local Action, Global Impact 🌏
While the workshops happen right here in Malaysia, the heartbeat of this programme beats across the world.
Kerjayaku: Goal Accelerator is the Malaysian chapter of a major global initiative funded by the Standard Chartered Foundation and coordinated by Women Win in Amsterdam. We are proud to stand alongside fellow changemakers in the UK, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Mauritius.
It is truly inspiring to know that while our participants are learning about financial literacy and confidence here at home, young women in four other countries are embarking on that same journey of self-discovery alongside them.
Voices of the Batch: What Success Looks Like
The numbers tell one part of the story, but our participants tell the most important part. Here is what some of our graduates had to say about their experience:
Nurin, Batch 2
“The most important lesson I learned is to always believe in myself. If we don’t believe in ourselves, our goals won’t be as realistic as we dream them to be. I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter what others think of me—self-belief is the foundation of everything.”
Haeshwana, Batch 3
“The most important lesson I learned is that I am not alone. As someone who struggles with self-doubt, being in a safe space with others who shared similar struggles made me feel seen. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about not giving up.”
Afifah, Batch 3
“The ‘Designing Your Career Pathway’ session gave me a practical framework that I still use daily. I also gained so much clarity on managing expenses and planning for retirement with confidence through the Financial Literacy session.”
Beyond the Classroom: The Future Running Club
One of the most exciting developments to come out of this programme is the Future Running Club.
We realized that the connection between our participants shouldn’t end when the workshops do. We formed this club as a platform for our graduates to reconnect, network, and support one another in a relaxed environment.
Every Friday at KLCC Park, you can find our community hitting the pavement together. It’s not just about the miles; it’s about supporting each other to live healthily and maintaining the bonds of sisterhood formed during the programme. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, the Future Running Club is where we keep each other moving forward—literally!
More Than Just a Job Hunt
We know that finding a job is tough, but keeping one and growing in it requires more than just a good CV. That’s why we designed this programme to go deeper. For women aged 16 to 35, we break the journey down into two phases:
To Our Graduates: We Are Proud of You!
To the 134 women who have completed this programme so far: You are the reason we do what we do.
You came to us with questions about your future, and you left with plans. You’ve proven that Malaysian youth are hungry for growth, resilient in the face of challenges, and ready to take on the workforce.
What’s Next?
We are just getting started. As we move forward, we are gearing up to welcome even more young women into the family. If you (or someone you know) is looking for a sign to take control of your career and personal growth, this is it.
Stay tuned for our next intake!
